Edinburgh Blog




 Our super exciting trip that we have been anticipating all year started off in the beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh, Scotland. There were many intriguing sights and landmarks that we explored and experienced as a group and also while venturing off in our free time.

Since we all went to the same places in the tour groups I thought I would share my favorite places I explored during our free time.


This sign was taken at a super cool bar and night club about a 15 minute walk from our hotel. It was called Please Don’t Tell and was filled with cool neon signs, vintage posters, arcade games, and even a life sized Darth Vader statue. The drinks and music were great and the people we met and danced with were wonderful as well.

 

 For our official free day in Edinburgh, I had previously booked a tattoo appointment at Studio XIII Gallery with another member of the fashion FSAT class. Before hand we grabbed some breakfast and coffee from Black Sheep Coffee right around the corner from the tattoo shop. I received these two tattoos and my friend got one of a bee.


After a day of tattoo appointments and window shopping around the city, I met up with friends for dinner at this beautiful restaurant called the Rabble Taphouse and Grill. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and the restaurant itself was beautifully decorated.


Walking back to hotel, full and tired from the day and dinner, we stumbled upon an old phone booth. Someone had turned it into a small art exhibit. It was filled with yarn, fabric, books, and other little knickknacks. It was set up almost like a time capsule or a glimpse of a set from a movie.




Edinburgh was a beautiful and historical city to be able to visit. I loved having the opportunity to learn about its history along with exploring the small quirks of it myself.

  London was our next stop and my person favorite location we visited. (There’s a good chance I’ll be moving here after school). Even though I loved the whole city I did have some highlights.   Our first afternoon in London after our long train ride was spent in soho. The maze of tiny streets and shops/restaurants stacked on top of each other was memorizing. My friends and I stopped at an all vegan restaurant. The food was amazing and the view from the third floor of the restaurant was beautiful. I order the vegan pulled “pork” sandwich which blew me away.  The next day we visited the Tower of London, however a friend and I left a bit early to check out portabella road the portabella market. We found tons of cute little vintage/thrift and antique shops.  Hi, my name is Owen Rose Moore! I am 20 years old, I live in Rochester NY but am originally from Seattle Washington. I am the oldest of two, my brother Julian is 15 and we are super close. My major is fashion merchandising so I am taking this class along with the fashion FSAT class. I love shopping, hanging out with friends and family, listening to music, working out, and napping. Currently I am in the process of building my own business “O’s Clothes” where I buy and sell second hand and vintage clothing. Right now I am mainly selling at a small flea market in Rochester called the Lucky Flea, however, the Mercyhurst fashion department is letting me host a pop-up at the end of the month. I am really excited for this trip for many reasons. Last semester was a really rough period for me so I feel like traveling is going to be good for me. My parents have been to England, Ireland, and Scotland both together and separately so they’ve told me all about their stories. I hope this trip leaves

Dublin Blog

  The final stop in this wonderful excursion was Dublin. As someone who is very Irish and grew up raised with a lot exposure to Irish heritage I was super excited for this stop.   Even though we didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time in Dublin I was still able to experience at lot of things.  On our last night in Dublin, my friends and I went to the famous Temple Bar. Unfortunately it was incredibly packed and hard to move around and enjoy ourselves. After taking some photos of the exterior, we moved on to a LGTBQ+ bar down the street called The George. We had a lot fun here and the music and people were wonderful.  The next day was our travel day back to the states. Even though it was sad, we were all happy to get home to our own beds and incredibly grateful for the amazing time we had.
